The Roland VAD503 is made for those desperate to get their hands on a V-Drums Acoustic Design kit but aren’t interested in the clutter of too many cymbals and toms. This full electronic drum kit in a friendly acoustic suit is the slimmed down version of the VAD506, both in set up and price.

The Roland VAD503 Acoustic Design V-Drums
On stage, this four-piece electronic kit has all the looks and, let’s face it, charm of a genuine acoustic kit and thankfully, the playing feel is the same. The fully wooden shells are fitted with responsive mesh-heads and here, you get a 10 and 14-inch tom, a 14-inch PD-140DS Digital Snare and a 20-inch KD-200-MS kick drum. The whole is coated in Midnight Sparkle and finished with chromed hardware.

Cymbal Pads
In terms of cymbals, the VAD503 comes with a 12-inch hi-hat and 14-inch crash but the real stand-out bit of this kit is undeniably the CY-18DR 18-inch ride. This multi-sensor-triggered pad has an unheard of dynamic range and incredibly accurate input detection so that every accent played on the bell is responded to and every hit actually sounds different.

The Roland TD-27 Module
The only thing this kit can’t do is actually make any noise. As such, the Roland TD-27 drum module is not just the brain but the voice of this kit. Among many other features, this module can stream audio via Bluetooth for wireless rehearsing with backing tracks and, since this is a Roland, your own WAV samples can be loaded in from an SD card. Capping it; the VAD503 even comes with an integrated 28-channel USB audio interface for utterly professional recording.
