This is a special process developed by Yamaha to alter new wood to take on the rich, full sound of the wood found on vintage guitars. By means of precisely adjusting the temperature, moisture and air pressure of the Engelmann spruce top, its molecular makeup is actually changed, and it becomes the same as the settled, experienced wood you’d normally have to wait for years to get out of a new guitar.

Yamaha designed the neck to work optimally for the modern traditional guitarist. As such, it has a comfortable neck profile. Additionally, the headstock, neck and body are seamlessly connected to one another with an adjustable truss rod, and a volute offers extra stability for the headstock.
