Thanks to their extensive experience with building timpanis, Ludwig knows a thing or two about copper. Now, they’ve applied that knowledge to create the LC663 Copper Phonic snare drum. The LC663 is made of a 1.2mm-thick sheet of copper that is crafted into a durable seamless shell. As such, it does not have any structural weak points, allowing the drumhead tension to be equally distributed across all the lugs. Besides the unique shell that gives it its uniquely warm and dry sound, this model is the same as Ludwig’s famous Supraphonic snare drums.

LC663 Copper Phonic
The Ludwig LC661 snare drum has a 14″ diameter and is 6.5″ deep. Its copper shell features a beautiful natural discolouration, or patina, while its 10 Ludwig Imperial lugs keep the drumhead perfectly tuned. With a highly sensitive and quick response, the Copperphonic snare drum is well-suited for both drummers and orchestra percussionists.
