Tama TLH146-OMH Star 14 x 6-inch snare Oiled Natural Mahogany

The Tama STAR TLH146-OMH is a 14 x 6-inch Solid Shell snare drum made of mahogany, featuring a Oiled Natural Mahogany finish. It’s a subtle snare drum with a transparent sound and light response! This particular version does not have an inlay on the outside of the shell.

Thanks to the use of mahogany, this snare drum produces a warm, bright sound, while its redesigned features lend an elegant touch to its looks and projection. In designing the Solid Shell snares, Tama wanted to create a drum with a bit more articulation that the other STAR snares. To achieve this, they even redesigned some of the hardware.

Hi-Carbon Snappy Snares
The Super Sensitive Hi-carbon Steel Snappy Snare wires have a specially designed plate and a revised winding pattern for the wire coils, resulting in a remarkably crisp snare sound. The Linear-Drive Strainer was designed to give you more precise control over the lever and to smooth out the strainer’s deployment motion. This way, you won’t hear the slap of the snares hitting the bottom head, even if you rapidly engage the strainer. Furthermore, to prevent the snare wires from loosening, the strainer is equipped with a ratchet system. This allows you to perform small, single-click adjustments to the tension of the wires, allowing you to fine-tune your sound!

Lightweight shell
Even the lugs have been redesigned – they now feature a bridge construction and make minimal contact with the shells. As a result, the drum’s resonance is optimised while its overall weight is reduced significantly. Finally, the Tama TLH146-OMP snare drum has three air holes, as opposed to the single hole that we’re used to. These extra holes in the shell allow the snare to produce a much brighter and drier sound that projects evenly in all directions.
