Roland JD-XA Crossover Synthesizer

The Roland JD-Xa is a larger, more comprehensive version of the JD-Xi. From its size and various controls you can instantly tell that this crossover synthesizer has been developed for people who know sound design, but it’s still also a great instrument to use live on stage. The JD-Xa is equipped with 49 full-size keys, but pretty mobile nevertheless. In addition to the familiar combination of pitch-bend and modulation wheels, you’ll also find two general controller wheels, which open up a wide new range of ways to edit sound on-the-fly.

Characteristics of the Roland JD-Xa
Like the smaller JD-Xi, this synthesizer consists of a digital section (with an elaborate collection of ROM samples in diverse categories) and an analogue section. That’s right, the JD-Xa combines the best of both worlds! Compared to the JD-Xi, the JD-Xa has a larger number of controls and a more extensive effects section. Of course the Roland crossover synth also has a step sequencer that, combined with the arpeggiator, provides you with numerous ways of creating fantastic grooves.

Play with your Voice
The JD-Xa is fitted with a microphone input that, among other things, allows you to use the synth’s vocoder – an effect that adds the formants of the human voice to other sounds. You’ll be able to make sounds, such as clear synth pads, sing or talk! With looks reminiscent of the JD-800 from the early 1990s, the JD-Xa is an impressive feat of technology. Like that illustrious ancestor, it just begs to be played. Thanks to Roland’s JD-Xa, creating sounds becomes fun again!
