It doesn’t come cheap, but those willing to break the bank for the Genelec 8351B get to anticipate one of the best professional studio monitors that hard-earned cash can buy. First off, it’s important to mention you’re looking at a coaxially configured monitor, which means the most important frequencies come from one place only, preventing minimal phase differences where more traditional monitors equipped with separated tweeters and mid/woofers struggle to achieve similar performance. On top of that, the Genelec 8351B spans an extremely wide frequency range, which isn’t surprising given the double 8.5 x 4″ woofer, the 5″ mid and the 1″ tweeter. The old adage rings true too: you can’t mix what you can’t hear. That said, this full-range monitor is made purely for mixing and handles any project – big or small. Add that to the pro-grade inputs and the SAM/GLM system compatibility for network and calibration options, and the price tag suddenly starts to make more sense. Seriously though, the Genelec 8351B is right up there with the best gear on the market right now.
