Get together a selection of the best wood types, put them in the hands of Yamaha’s master artisans and add a dash of modern technology, and you have the best recipe for a fantastic guitar: the Yamaha LJ56 Custom ARE. This acoustic western guitar was designed and manufactured with a good eye for detail. The best tonewoods were used, and as a result, this Custom LJ produces an exceptionally open, full sound. Thanks to its medium jumbo body, it also has a good dose of depth to add to the open sound. Nitrocellulose lacquer was used to finish the LJ56 Custom with a beautiful glossy, organic look, with the additional benefit of added resonance.
Yamaha LJ56 Custom ARE: construction and finish
Once you experience the sound, comfort and looks of this guitar, it won’t come as a surprise that it’s the top model of the L-series (together with the LS56 and LL56, with slightly different bodies). You’ll be on cloud 9 when you experience the traditional 5-piece mahogany/rosewood neck, designed for optimal comfort, and smoothly connected to the headstock and body. The luxurious ebony fretboard, refined action and string spacing all offer the perfect basis for your playing. This guitar is a pleasure to look at, too, with its gold-plated tuners, abalone body bindings and position markers, and a tortoise pickguard. The LJ body was designed to offer optimal comfort for playing while seated, and thanks to the improved internal bracing system your bass tones will get an extra boost without taking away from overall transparency.
Acoustic Resonance Enhancement
Yamaha added a big dose of technology to the development of the LJ56. By way of Acoustic Resonance Enhancement, a new piece of Engelmann spruce was enhanced to take on the superior sound characteristics of vintage wood. The ARE process involves mixing up a precise cocktail of temperature, air pressure and moisture in order to change the molecular makeup of the wood. This means that the LL16 ARE comes out of the box with the full, rich tone of a vintage guitar, that you’d typically have to wait for years to develop. This outstanding Yamaha has a great, excellent playability, and comes with a soft case.
