Master of quick guitar licks and tapping god Eddie van Halen is perpetually looking for the perfect guitar sound. In the 1970s, for instance, he got his legendary ‘brown sound’ from his modified Marshall. Of course the legendary guitar player has his own modern custom EVH Signature guitar amplifier, which has been designed to fully suit his personal preferences: the EVH 5150III 100S. This entirely black Stealth edition is identical to the modified live setup that Eddie has been using extensively during tours for the last couple of years. The amplifier comes with a foot switch that allows you to switch between the channels and the FX loop.

Characteristics of the EVH 5150 III 100S
The EVH 5150III 100S is a 100-watt tube guitar amplifier head with three versatile channels: clean, overdrive 1 and overdrive 2. Each channel has its own independent section for gain, low, mid, high and volume, which means you’re able to set three totally different sounds. The amp head’s master section also offers independent presence control per channel for additional fine-tuning of the trebles. The first channel takes you from a crystal-clear clean to a classic roar. Channel 2 produces the famous Brown Sound and more, while channel 3 really opens the floodgates with regards to gain, compression and sustain. From shredding leads to tight metal riffs – the EVH 5150 III 100S delivers.

Modifications and additional options
Compared to the standard EVH 5150III 100W Head, this special Stealth edition offers a few changes. An additional preamp tube has been included – adding up to a total of 8! – which allows channels 2 and 3 to produce greater gain. The second channel has been re-voiced for enhanced low-mid definition and the third channel offers improved range for the ‘low’ control. Each channel also has a separate resonance control at the back, so you can accurately set the low-frequency response. Finally, the new 6L6 power tubes can be perfectly adjusted, thanks to the inclusion of a bias control with two bias test points.
