Probably the only person able to actually improve on perfection, Roger Sadowsky has managed to take the original J-bass format and find its absolute limits. As such, the solid-body MetroLine Vintage bass is surprisingly slim and lightweight and has been rounded off and finished with deep contours in all the right places to ensure a tight and snug feel. The C-profile neck and 12 inch fretboard radius definitely help with this as well, but it’s the fluid access to that top 24th fret that’s perhaps the most welcome detail here.

Hum-Free Passive & Active Sound
In terms of sound, this bass is just as worthy of your trust. Obviously, you gain full access to the classic sonic range that the JJ-configuration has to offer, but due to the modern hum-cancelling placement of the two J-Style pickups, you also get to explore a bass with a far more future-focussed palette of powerful single-coil sounds without any of the associated hum. Both active and passive sound is accessed via the fitted push-pull tone pot and everything is tweaked as needed using the accurate balance pot. All the hardware, from the quick-string release bridge to the light open-gear machine heads and Just-A-Nut III nut are provided courtesy of Sadowsky, laying down sublime tuning stability as well as outstanding intonation, and finishing a game-changer of a model.
