Ketron SD7 61-note workstation keyboard

The workstation keyboard playing field features a lot of Asian competitors but with Ketron, a European challenger has joined the game. This Italian brand manufactures high quality products, including the SD7 that gives its competitors a run for their money. This keyboard comes with 16 gigs of SSD storage, so all of its 368 sounds, 46 RAM sounds, 260 accompaniment styles and 540 GM sounds are loaded up in the blink of an eye. Typical of Ketron are the excellent bass and drum sounds used in the automatic backing mode.

Easy to use
The SD7 sports a 7-inch colour touch screen display with an intuitive, pictogram-style lay-out. Together with the physical controls, including volume sliders, you can be sure you’re safe from disappointment during a live performance. Using the controls, you can create your own styles or edit existing ones. No technical programming skills are required either. Additionally, you can import and convert older Ketron models’ styles too.

Many possibilities
The SD7’s possibilities are nearly endless. It comes with various play modes that can make the life of your pianist, organist or accordionist a little easier and the dual music player recognises different file types, including WAV and MP3, and can even display song lyrics. The microphone section is quite nifty too, you can mix down your own voice and apply an automatic 3-voice harmony to it, for instance. Moreover, the headphone/AUX jack enables you to transfer an alternative mix or a click-track to any desired location and various effects can be added to audio and MIDI recordings. All of the above barely scratches the surface in terms of possibilities, as one may expect from a workstation keyboard with a hefty but worthy price tag.
