Fender GB Twin Reverb (George Benson Signature) tube amp

Fender’s Artist Signature Series is home to various amps that all bear the name of a legendary guitarist. One name that stands out is that of George Benson, a very prominent jazz guitarist. Inspired by his rich guitar sound, Fender developed the GB Twin Reverb. It’s punchy, and offers mild attack and musical sustain, just as the master himself likes it. To remotely control the tube-driven reverb and vibrato, a foot switch is included, as is a protective cover.

Well-defined sound
To achieve results that would please Benson, Fender took the classic Twin Reverb as this amp’s very solid two-channel base. They ended up with an 85W tube amp, and swapped the first tube on the Normal channel for a 12AY7 tube, providing a lower-gain, cleaner voice with a complex midrange. Two 12″ Jensen Tornado speakers guarantee a well-defined sound, that gets a nice bite and sparkling trebles when you push it to its limits. It has two channels, and even allows you to plug in two electric guitars.

Ease-of-use, high power and a great look
A great detail for touring guitarists is the GB Twin Reverb’s relatively manageable weight, which is a great side-effect of the Jensen Tornados and the pine housing. Don’t think that this compromises the amp’s power in any way, however. Its 85 Watts of 6L6 tube power is more than enough for a beautiful, clean jazz sound. Finally, to remind you that you’re playing a remarkable amp, indeed, Fender fitted the George Benson signature amplifier with a grey vinyl finish, a silver-coloured speaker cloth and a classy GB badge, for a distinguished overall look.
