For this fretless offering, Fender has taken all of the revered J-Bass features, nudged, polished and tweaked them, carefully added some fresh treats and wrapped it up in refinement to give us the American Professional II Jazz Bass FL. This electric solid-body bass comes loaded with a familiar pair of single-coils, but look closer and you’ll find that these are the renewed V-Mod II alnico pickups. This means next-gen tone characterised by full bass and defined trebles all backed up by new winding for a subtle quality boost.

Since this is the new pro-grade standard, the playing comfort of the fretless American Pro II Jazz is provided by the inclusion of the much-loved Slim C-profile neck, while the backside has been coated with a new Super Natural satin gloss and the fretboard edges have been rounded to push that butter-smooth feel even further. Even the top corner of the heel has been smoothly rounded off and mounted with an asymmetrical neck plate – all in the name of eased fret access and accuracy. The addition of a 4-Saddle HiMass Vintage bridge is yet another rich treat that can be used as a string-through-body or toploader as preferred, so you can attain the perfect, and most personalised sound and feel possible.
